Plug Power, along with the Centre for Automation Technologies and Systems and the National Renewable Energy Lab, have developed a new robotic refuelling system that will serve as an easier and cheaper solution for filling up with hydrogen.
The robotic refueling station will be used by Amazon and Walmart, in their distribution centre for their material handling fleet. Walmart currently has the largest fleet of hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric vehicles in the world as fuel cell technology assists in increasing warehouse productivity and energy efficiency, whilst reducing costs and sustainability issues related to traditional batteries.
Future use of the technology, include application in on-road fleet vehicles, autonomous guided vehicles and self-driving passenger cars.
